Portuguese-French co-production support fund renewal

The Portuguese Film and Audiovisual Institute (ICA) and the Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée (CNC) signed in Cannes a new three-year agreement concerning the Portuguese-French co-production fund launched in 2014.

This fund aims to promote the co-production of cinematographic works between Portugal and France and, since its inception in 2014, has already supported 20 feature films and seven short films, with several of these works participating in some of the most important international film festivals. The short film CAMPO DE VÍBORAS, by Cristèle Alves Meira, was selected for the Semaine de la Critique, at Cannes, in 2016; COMBOIO DE SAL e AÇÚCAR, by Licínio Azevedo, has participated in several international festivals, including Locarno, Amiens, Cairo (Best Director Award), San Sebastian and Toronto; COLO, by Teresa Villaverde, was part of the Berlin Festival competition; and LOS PERROS, by Marcela Said, competes in 2017's Cannes Film Critics Week.

Short and feature fiction films, animation or documentaries can use this co-production agreement, which was now renovated until 2019. The total amount of the fund is set at € 800,000 for 2017, divided equally between ICA and the CNC.
